According to a report by the National Retail Federation (NRF), retail crime accounted for $112.1 billion in industry losses in the US last year, up 19.4% from $93.9 billion in 2021.<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">&nbsp; <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">And guess who ends up paying for it? People like me - the average, law-abiding shopper in your district and others around the country just like me. <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (HR 895) will&nbsp;fight this type of criminal activity and hold retail criminals accountable for their actions.&nbsp; <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">Organized retail crime has made shopping much more difficult for people like me. Products are locked away and costs are rising across the board!&nbsp; <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">This act would be incredibly beneficial, directly addressing the growing problem of organized retail crime&nbsp; across the nation.&nbsp; <span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space-collapse: preserve;">This bill would:<ul style="font-family: Barlow, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding-inline-start: 48px;"><li dir="ltr" aria-level="1" style="list-style-type: disc; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; background-color: transparent; font-variant-numeric: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-alternates: normal; font-variant-position: normal; vertical-align: baseline; text-wrap: wrap;">Grant law enforcement the ability to investigate and prosecute those involved in organized retail crime, increasing the likelihood of bringing criminals to justice. Organized retail crime refers to the illegal acquisition of retail goods for the purpose of reselling them through physical or online retail marketplaces. It's rising fast!

According to a report by the National Retail Federation, retail crime accounted for $112.1 billion in industry losses in the US last year, up 19.4% from $93.9 billion in 2021.

And guess who ends up paying for it? You - the everyday shopper.

The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act was introduced to increase efforts to prevent these types of crimes and ensure retail criminals are held accountable in the manner in which they deserve.
